  • If you have previously attended college or university, you are not considered a mature student for admission purposes. You will need to meet the regular admission requirements.
  • For admission purposes, the University of Waterloo’s definition of a mature student varies by faculty. In all cases, it is not defined by your age but by the level of your academic background and number of years since you last attended formal high school. All faculties require that you present a minimum number of specific Ontario Grade 12 U and/or M courses (or equivalents) in addition to meeting their definition of a mature student. For more information about the admission requirements for mature students for each faculty, refer to the Mature Student Admission section of the Undergraduate Calendar.
  • You must provide clear evidence of ability to study at the university level.
  • You must arrange for us to receive official transcripts of your academic work completed to date.
  • Most faculties have additional requirements; please read the Mature Student Admission section of the Undergraduate Calendar for details.
  • If you're applying to the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, courses required by individual departments must normally be completed within five years of the beginning of the term in which candidates begin their studies.

  • GED examination results are NOT considered equivalent to the completion of grade 12 U/M courses.
